A note on vaccinations



We promote the WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) Vaccination Guidelines that propose:


  • MLV (modified live virus) vaccines should be used whenever possible, as they have a faster onset of action, are better at overcoming maternal antibodies and have a greater likelihood of conferring sufficient immunity.


  • This means that puppies can be fully vaccinated by 10 weeks of age and able to socialise by 11 weeks old.


  • A third C4 is still recommended between 14-16 weeks of ages.


  • We shouldn’t vaccinate more frequently than is deemed necessary.

Please note that due to the nature of a mobile veterinary practice, there are some services that cannot be provided, such as general anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging (eg. xrays, ultrasound). Should this situation arise, Dr Anita will ensure continuity of veterinary treatment for your pet with the networks she has with other veterinary providers in Cairns.
